Do you know what's great about Quiet Books by Jolly Designs? The felt and cotton fabrics our books are made from are really easy to care for. Natural fibers do not attract much dirt and can be cleaned very easily. If it is only a small stain, the affected area can be carefully treated directly. For a more thorough cleaning, you can also simply wash the entire Quiet Book.
You need:
- a mild hand wash, preferably liquid and fragrance-free
- lukewarm water
- a terry towel
- optional: a laundry net and an iron
If you only want to clean part of the book, first put some lukewarm water on the affected area. Now dab the dirty surface with some hand detergent and work it into the fabric, either by hand or with a soft toothbrush.
Our extra tip: For easier application, you can also mix the lukewarm water and the hand detergent and put them together in a small spray bottle so that you can specifically treat stains.
Allow the handwashing detergent to take effect briefly and be careful not to let the fabric dry out. Then wet the entire page and rinse thoroughly with water until all residue of the handwashing detergent is removed.
Avoid unnecessary wringing. Placing the side between two layers of terry cloth towel and squeezing gently will help absorb moisture more quickly. Then let the Quiet Book dry thoroughly with the pages open. If small dents have formed or the side has curled slightly due to the moisture, you can first gently pull the fabric into shape and then carefully iron it with the iron at the lowest setting. To do this, place a thin tea towel or kitchen paper between the fabric and the iron to avoid damaging the applications.
Our Quiet Books can also be cleaned in the washing machine on a delicate/wool cycle. Here too, it is important that you use a delicate or fragrance-free wool detergent. You should definitely avoid fabric softener.
First place all loose parts of the book in a small laundry net and then in the drum. The book itself can go in the washing machine. Choose a low temperature (maximum 30°C) and a low spin cycle. After the book has been washed, let it air dry along with any loose parts. If the Quiet Book is warped, carefully pull it into shape before drying and then iron it as described above.
